Mel’s incredible figure hasn’t come about without hard work, especially since she reveals she gained a stone from “constant” eating during lockdown.

And while she enjoys working up a sweat in her home gym, the singer admits that during the 10-year marriage of her abusive ex-husband Stephen Belafonte, 48, she previously used exercise as a way to reconnect with her abusive ex-husband Stephen Belafonte, 48, to escape – claims he denies.

In an exclusive interview with Web, the singer tells how she used her latest project to reclaim her body, freedom and family after being separated from many of her loved ones for a decade.

“I gained quite a bit of weight during Covid,” she admits. “About a stone.” I was home a lot, eating constantly, and feeling good about not going out. So earlier this year I decided to just come back to myself.

“But even when the Spice Girls started, before I got married, I was constantly either going to the gym, eating healthy, or trying some juice. I have been very active in taking care of my body and mind and meditating a lot.

“So this time I literally put myself back there and gave myself some fair but kind of regimented guidelines.

“One of the things I realized when the lockdown was lifted was how much my day in, day out revolved around just the kitchen and the fridge, so I changed that and I had to change that.”

“I wanted to feel like I had more energy, and I think no matter what body shape I was, I’ve always felt confident.” But I don’t think I’ve ever been that confident inside and out because I’ve really been looking for the foods that gave me gas or a rash, be it eczema or a pimple.”

Mel insisted the images could not be digitally altered, as many of her celebrity peers were unrecognizable on magazine covers and on social media.

She insists, “Well I’m kind of old fashioned and back when we were doing photo shoots for the Spice Girls we were adamant not to have anything retouched.”

“And it didn’t exist back then anyway. While I’ve found out more, especially in the last five to 10 years, people don’t even look the same when you see them, whether it’s on their social media or in their photoshoots, whether it’s on the covers of magazines, they totally look different.

“I just don’t really understand what it’s about. Because if you’re doing a photo shoot as a person and trying on that outfit that you think looks really good on you, why bother retouching it? It just gives the wrong image. That’s why I insisted that no retouching should take place.”

This comes after Mel B’s doppelganger Phoenix Brown doubled as her famous mother as she recreated some of the Spice Girls’ iconic looks from the band’s ’90s heyday.

In pictures and videos posted to Instagram and TikTok, Phoenix dressed the same as Scary Spice Mel, 47, in the video for the group’s 1996 hit Say You’ll Be There.

In other pictures, she wore colorful clothing similar to what Mel wore on the cover of the band’s 1997 single “Spice Up Your Life.”

Continuing the “Say You’ll Be There” look, Phoenix peeked at her waist as she wore a leopard print cropped top, which she paired with a side-slit black mini skirt.

She wore a pair of fancy black boots as she stood on a sandy gravel road to recreate the scenery of the burnt Mojave Desert in California, where the “Say You’ll Be There” video was filmed.

Phoenix’s curly hair was styled to one side, just like her mother’s at the time of filming, and she held her clenched fist forward, like her parents did on location.

The video was shot on September 7th and 8th, 1996 when Mel was just 21 years old, two years younger than Phoenix is today and more than three years before Phoenix was born.

Under the caption of one post, Phoenix – which Mel shares with her ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar, a dancer – wrote: “Say you’ll be there – music video shoot (1996).”
