Sixteen children and one adult were hospitalized in Winnipeg, Manitoba after falling from a platform during a school field trip on Wednesday.
The incident happened at Fort Gibraltar in Whittier Park.
Firefighters were called around 10 a.m. to help the group of 10- and 11-year-olds, according to a city fire department official.
All would have fallen more than 6 meters from a platform at this historic site.
Three children were in an “unstable” condition by early afternoon, reports Global News.
A code orange has been triggered at the hospital to deal with the influx of many injured, according to the regional health directorate.
Authorities have launched an investigation and will hold a press conference until the end of the day.
