“I don’t think it’s a bad thing, but I think there are other people better placed than me to respond to this,” said Frédéric Landtmeters, President of Molson Coors, after visiting the Chamber of Commerce metropolitan Montreal on Friday.
“I got hooked on hockey when I came to Canada seven years ago. This is true. “It’s not a joke at all,” he said on the sidelines of the event.
Recall that Frédéric Landtmeters is the President of Molson Coors Canada and Andrew T. Molson is Vice President of the Board of Directors of parent company Molson Coors along with his brother Geoffrey E. Molson, owner and CEO of the Canadian company.
Molson Coors has worked continuously with the Canadiens since 1957.
Bud Light controversy
Asked about the controversy following the hiring of a transgender man in a bud-light ad in the US, Molson Coors’ No. 1 wanted to remain cautious.
“I don’t want this polarization. We have a very clear consumer that we are targeting,” he summarized.
In his exchange in front of an audience of business people, Frédéric Landtmeters said he wants to increasingly focus on non-alcoholic beer.
He recalled that in countries like Spain, alcohol-free beer accounts for a good 10% of sales, while here we are talking about just under 1%.
“We have established ourselves as one of the market leaders in this segment,” he concluded.
