The 69-year-old faces a charge of manslaughter.

Patricia Ferguson was 23 years old when she was last seen at Pointe-aux-Trembles in 1996. Their daughter Sabrina Ferguson was one year old at the time. She’s relieved now.

“I don’t know if I’m sad or happy. It changed my whole life,” she told media.

All her life, the young woman believed that her mother had abandoned her. She now knows that her mother would have been killed.

She wanted to come back to see me. I can finally love and accept my mother and tell myself that she didn’t leave me. I want justice for Patricia.

She hopes this story will bring hope to other families who have lost loved ones and are searching for answers.

“I lived there for 25 years. If other people are in this situation and want justice, I hope reading this story will help them,” she explains.

Current information has meant that the police investigation could be completed almost 30 years later.

Last December, the Montreal police established a command post in the Pointe-aux-Trembles district in connection with the case. Investigators then attempted to gather information from the public to help solve the disappearance.

Patricia Ferguson was last seen in Montreal on June 6, 1996.

She would have gone to sleep with a friend. According to police, she left the Pointe-aux-Trembles shelter in the middle of the night, leaving her little girl behind. She left a message for her friend telling her she was going to have lunch and then join her sister, according to the wanted report in connection with her disappearance.
