Former New York Rangers star goaltender Henrik Lundqvist scored a young man’s life just before Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals in the halls of T-Mobile Arena.
Brennan Rosenberg, 14, had twice the same heart surgery as Lundqvist in 2021.
The Las Vegas native was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect known as Ebstein’s anomaly. According to his mother, this disease is classified as serious.
The 41-year-old man went under the knife to repair a leaking aortic valve.
The reason Brennan and Lundqvist were able to meet is because he and his father have been Golden Knights season ticket holders since 2018. Brennan and his father decided not to attend a private party outside of the arena due to the sweltering temperatures. They went through a different entrance to get to their window seats.
While they were in the amphitheater corridors, the young teenager had a chance to meet the one who is now an analyst at the TNT network.
“Henrik Lundqvist was very nice because he was in a hurry and getting ready to go on the air,” Derek Rosenberg, Brennan’s father, said in an interview on NHL.com.
A source of inspiration
Brennan Rosenberg immediately lifted his Golden Knights jersey to show him the surgical scar visible on his chest.
“I was so impressed because he’s an inspiration. “I showed him my heart and he was super friendly to me,” said the man who was allowed to meet his idol on Saturday night.
One thing is certain: this time spent in the company of the man nicknamed “King Henrik” will greatly help the young person to overcome his difficulties.
“This meeting put me in a good mood,” said Brennan Rosenberg. […] Some people like to hide their worst moments, but I think you have to highlight them because when you’re at the top you can see your progress.
