Evan Handler, the actor who plays Harry Goldenblatt on “Sex and the City” and “And Just Like That…” is reacting to news of Kim Cattrall’s return to the series.
Earlier this week it was reported that Cattrall would reprise her role as Samantha Jones in Season 2 of the Max series but has not been in touch with any cast members, which Handler admitted.
“I think it is awesome. I do,” Handler told People of Cattrall’s return.
He continued, “Apparently [her cameo] was filmed somewhere in the garage with no contact with anyone, so the only place I can welcome it is in my living room when it’s on TV.”
Cattrall’s return to the show is intended as a one-off event and serves as a closure for fans of the series. However, Cattrall was apparently given the option to return if she so desires when the show is picked up for a third season.
Handler also noted that he found out about Cattrall’s cameo the same way everyone else did.
Cattrall portrayed Samantha in all six seasons of the HBO series and the two feature films. It was in Sex and the City 2 that the character last appeared. During the first season of And Just Like That… Samantha was mentioned but never seen.
Samantha’s absence from the show is explained by her character having a falling out with Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw. The two characters have lost contact and only communicate via text messages.
And Just Like That… Season 2 is scheduled to stream on Max on June 22nd.
