Giulia caresses her belly, her baby. Nicola Urro, an artist from Nuoro, has dedicated himself to this very subject Femicide by Senago one of her sand sculptures. Giulia Tramontano are now (symbolically) on Platamona beach, in Sassari.
The picture After the relaunch on social media, it went around the world. In fact, many foreign media reported on Giulia’s death, stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend Alessandro Impagnetiello in the seventh month. «A violence that is so clearly recognizable and so abominably recurring that it is grafted into and indwells the mind and body of all women.” That is the post published on Urru’s Facebook profile.
The work is complete on Third Pettine Beach. It is a woman who caresses and looks at her stomach with loving eyes, by the sea and with her hat on her forehead. The artist portrayed Giulia by copying one of the photos that have been circulating since the beginning of her disappearance: she in a bathing suit, by the sea at sunset. One of the few, but the most beautiful.
Nicholas Urro is known for its sand sculptures which almost always relate to news or current events and convey powerful messages. Lots of comments: «Beautiful and very touching!!! She will always be with us”, and again: “Good evening Nicola, I wanted to congratulate you on this tribute to Giulia, which I visited on the spot to better admire her: moving”. Furthermore: “Ephemeral in the sand like her young life.” Malice’s life was taken, wiped out by a wave, but in mind and heart they will live forever».
