Good news for the city of Sept-Îles, which is finally getting rain due to the wildfires. The mayor announced on Tuesday the lifting of evacuation orders in place since Friday, allowing residents to return home during the day.

The latest assessment by the authorities is encouraging here. They report significant progress related to the fire north of Lac de la Montagne.
As for the major fire in the Nipisis and Moisie river sections, the authorities believe that it is stable in the southern part but more active in the north.
Despite the onset of rain, the fires are still considered out of control. In addition, eastern Quebec authorities will take stock of the situation with the Prime Minister, who will be in Sept-Îles on Tuesday.

Even today, soldiers continue to arrive on the north coast as reinforcements to assist the forest firefighters on site.
Primary and secondary schools in Sept-Îles remain closed for the time being.
