The army reported that among the most notable acts of violence was an attack in the town of Sawsenga that killed several members of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).
For their part, police sources have admitted that an agent of this armed group and two civilians have died in an attack by an extremist formation in the town of Yendera, on the southern Ivory Coast border, in the past few hours.
As a result of the escalating violence, hundreds of Burkinabé residents fled their homes to the neighboring country mentioned above.
Recently, the Luftwaffe, in coordination with the army and the VDP, launched offensives against irregular groups that, according to official reports, killed dozens of extremists.
In Burkina Faso, a country ruled by a military junta that has experienced two coups in the past year, more than 10,000 people have died violently since 2015 to date, including soldiers and police officers, while around two million people have been killed by organizations.
Burkina Faso’s population suffers in insecure conditions due to attacks by extremist groups such as the Islamic State in Greater Sahara and the Support Group for Islam and Muslims, which is linked to the al-Qaeda terrorist network.
These formations, which control large parts of the country, also cut off the food and drinking water supplies to the cities, thus worsening the humanitarian situation on the ground. mgt/obf
