Attack in the subway: A young woman is randomly pushed onto the tracks by a homeless man

An 18-year-old woman who was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time was allegedly pushed off the tracks by a homeless woman on the New York City subway on Monday.

Fortunately, thanks to the help of witnesses at the scene, the victim was able to reclaim the platform before a train arrived at 75 St-Elderts Lane station in Queens, the New York Post reported on Tuesday.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) said she suffered only a laceration to the leg that did not require transport to the hospital, implying that the attack was indiscriminate.

For her part, stricken homeless person Shemecca Wise is said to have fled after her crime before being arrested at a nearby homeless shelter where she was supposed to stay.

The 26-year-old faced two charges of assault and willful endangerment of the victim.
