A “detailed plan” by two students to carry out an armed attack on a school that may have been foiled by the SPVM

Police and SPVM investigators landed Tuesday afternoon at a secondary school in Montreal’s Villeray neighborhood, where two students allegedly hatched a “detailed plan” for an armed attack on the school.

According to our sources, the two youths referred to in this investigation hatched a detailed plan to carry out a “school shooting.”

Montreal Police confirm they were briefed around 10am about “possible threatening statements that have been reported to police” regarding a secondary school in the Villeray area.

According to our information, the intervention took place at the Georges Vanier high school on rue Jarry Est. According to its website, more than 1,000 students are enrolled at the institution.

“Police and investigators went to the scene to meet the individuals involved,” said Montreal Police spokeswoman Agent Véronique Dubuc.

No security measures were required and classes were not disrupted, authorities added.

Following the case, the authorities could not say whether the allegations of armed assault were serious or not.

“The investigations are ongoing,” said the SPVM spokesman.

The two students involved in this story are teenagers.

No arrests have been made in the case so far, but it cannot be ruled out that the young people will soon be brought before a court.
