Smoke from the Quebec fires envelops Yankee Stadium

Not only in southern Quebec do we feel the effects of forest fires on air quality. The smog made its way to New York City, where Yankee Stadium was shrouded in residual smoke.

On Tuesday night, the images captured over the Yankees’ home stadium during the confrontation against the White Sox of Chicago were stunning. A thick veil of smoke floated in the sky, turning the last rays of the sun orange.

The smoke added a fun atmosphere to the game, which was played under the threat of rain.

According to website ClutchPoints, the stadium was barely visible from the surrounding area and a haze of smoke covered it.

“It’s like someone is burning old furniture,” remarked a supporter quoted by the site.

Smoke is expected to continue billowing over New York state in the coming days. The Yankees have indicated they will continue to monitor the situation closely and make adjustments to their schedule as needed.

The smoke continued south, as it is now near Philadelphia. Reporter Jonathan Tannenwald, who is assigned to cover the Philadelphia Union, shared a photo taken at the team’s stadium in Chester on Wednesday morning. The smoke is clearly visible.
