Kathy Griffin successfully undergoes vocal cord surgery after traveling a long way to regain her voice after a long battle with lung cancer

Kathy Griffin has undergone successful vocal cord surgery when she shared her long-awaited procedure on Instagram on Wednesday.

The Emmy winner, 62, who spoke to fans about her cancer, said her throat “is a little itchy today but I’m fine” after the procedure.

The surgery comes as she wants to be ready for her upcoming Las Vegas show later this month, which she shared with her fans on Instagram.

She said, ‘This is just part of my recovery from lung cancer.’ I am cancer free.’

The star lost her signature voice after her oncologist removed half of her left lung in August 2021, and announced last December that she would “do anything to get my voice back.”

Kathy, who will be performing her live show at the Mirage Theater on June 17, posted the progress of her vocal cord surgery on Instagram.

The video footage showed her “Kick a** Female Voice Surgeon” sticking a camera down her throat and later posting a look at her vocal cords.

Kathy has also given up her sobriety journey to refrain from using prescription pills as she has struggled with an addiction in the past.

The comedian admitted her cancer surgery was “more than she expected” after revealing the treatment was “more challenging than she imagined.”

She said, ‘Tonight will be my first night without narcotic painkillers.’ Hello Tylenol, my new best friend!’

“After being clean and drug free for over a year, I now know I can do this and anything I want without these devil pills.”

“You know what? I’m more afraid of drugs and addiction than I am of cancer. So I think I’ll be fine.’

Kathy also revealed her journey since being diagnosed with “an extreme case of complex post-traumatic stress disorder”.

“It feels silly to tell you this because I always thought PTSD was only for veterans and stuff.”
