Ukraine is also using tanks against the Russian occupiers, but Russian army leadership claims the counter-offensive has been averted.
According to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the Russian armed forces repelled an offensive by the Ukrainian army in southern Ukraine on Thursday. At 1:30 am local time, Ukrainian troops with 1,500 soldiers and 150 armored vehicles in the Zaporizhia region tried to “break through our defense lines”, Shoigu said. The “enemy” was stopped and retreated after suffering heavy casualties.
According to war bloggers and British intelligence experts, there is intense fighting on multiple fronts in Ukraine. As “Bild-Zeitung” writes, attacks are taking place in the south of the country, in the Zaporizhia region. Ukraine is also using tanks against Russian occupiers. On the Telegram channel, Sladkov+ says: “The offensive has begun. We have numbers. I wish the men firm in the trenches.”
“A long time ago there was no such movement at the front”
The Zapiski Veterana channel also wrote: “I think we can already talk about the start of the offensive that Ukraine has been announcing for a long time. Russian channel Operazija Z claims: “The enemy is bringing in reserves and trying to break through our defenses in front of Zaporizhia.”
Ukrainian disputes attacked Russian positions with shells and artillery for hours. After that, the tanks rolled onto the battlefield, Bild said, quoting the blogger. At five o’clock in the morning, Ukraine won a small victory and took a hill. The Russian blogger from the Romanov Light channel does not believe that the attacks are the great Ukrainian counterattack.
“148 attacks in 21 inhabited areas on the frontline”
Another Russian blogger says the attacks are just test attacks. However, he warns of “psychological effects” on Russian troops. Yuri Malashko, head of Zaporizhia’s regional military administration, confirmed on Telegram that Ukraine had launched “148 front-line attacks in 21 inhabited areas” in the past few hours.
