Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Anthony Bass says he now has a better understanding of the realities of members of the LGBTQ2S+ community after speaking with Pride Toronto general manager Sherwin Modeste at the Rogers Center on Tuesday.
Bass mentioned that he needed to be more sensitive and tolerant of this community. He also admitted to receiving a lot of criticism for sharing a video on social media in late May; It supported boycotts of Bud Light and Target, which had previously promoted diversity and inclusion.

“For me, it really shed a light on the gay community. I have my personal beliefs, but I understand that everyone is free to feel and think what they want. You have to accept people, welcome them and give them a sense of calm so that they can make a choice in their lives. “I thought about it and I realized that I have to accept things better,” he said in an interview with broadcaster Sportsnet on Tuesday.
According to this source, Modeste reminded the 35-year-old athlete of the possible negative impact such a publication could have on the LGBTQ2S+ community. He also told her that many people obviously feel very uncomfortable when they come out, and that there are many people who commit suicide because they have not received support from the community and from their relatives.

The right-handed shooter was booed throughout his time on the mound in the May 31 home game against the Milwaukee Brewers. It was the first time he had appeared in a game since that controversy.
He expects more boos from Jays fans.
“I understand that people boo me. I will continue to do my work and hope that the situation will improve over time.”
Luckily, the Toronto-based organization will hold its annual Pride weekend on Friday and Saturday. Bass has also offered to catch the ceremonial toss, which will be performed by LeZlie Lee Kam, a well-known activist in the LGBTQ2S+ community, on the sidelines of Friday’s duel against the Minnesota Twins.
