A military helicopter with four people on board has disappeared from radar screens in north-west Tunisia since Wednesday evening, the Defense Ministry said on Thursday morning.
The ministry “learned that contact had been lost with a helicopter that was on a night flight in the Cap Serrat (Bizerte) region last night,” he said in a statement.
“All land, sea and air resources are being mobilized in coordination with the Home Office to conduct search operations to locate the ship and determine the fate of its crew of four.”
Similar incidents have occurred in Tunisia in recent years during exercises or reconnaissance missions.
In October 2021, an army helicopter crashed during a night exercise in the governorate of Gabès (south), killing three soldiers.
The ministry had launched an investigation to find out the reasons for the accident, but the results have not yet been released.
