Abbie Chatfield is defending her calls for FBoy Island contestants not to hug during filming of the show after squashing backlash over “men not being emotional”.

She’s built an entire media career on her outspoken views.

And now Fboy Island host Abbie Chatfield has fallen out with fans of the show after she was seen yelling at male contestants during filming to stop hugging.

But the 27-year-old has hit out at trolls on Instagram, who have criticized her for “not letting men be emotional.”

The controversy began when the binge-streaming hit aired footage of a group hug with Fboy Island’s “nice guy” James.

After James was sent home in the fourth episode after only two days on the show, he prompted the other contestants to give him a group hug, and Abbie tried to stop him from doing so.

“Oh no, can we go home?” Abbie says to James, before continuing, “Babe, the crew is exhausted, they’ve been here since 7am.”

After receiving a barrage of criticism about the incident on her social media, the podcaster and TV host explained that she had the crew in mind as she attempted to intervene in James’ emotional moment.

Chatfield said the incident happened around midnight, meaning the crew had been at work for 14 hours.

Chatfiled described James’ gesture as a “waste of time” and explained that the unplanned moment added another 20 minutes to an already busy day for the crew.

“Hugging is great, but when we ask them not to do something because it’s not good for the crew. Don’t fuck the crew,” Chatfield said in her rant.

When viewers said James “just wanted to say goodbye to his friends,” an impatient chatfield pointed out that the contestants had only met two days earlier.

Chatfield also posted a screenshot of a troll who wrote, ‘So we don’t want men to show emotion.’ Okay, got it.’

“Ah, grow up,” Chatfield replied during their video rant.

“That wasn’t the point.” She continued, “The point was that they were wasting the crew’s time.”

“It’s also really rude to me and the producers and directors who were like, ‘Guys, please don’t do that,'” she added.

“So it’s not about men not showing feelings.” That’s what we want [emotion] on the show and in real life, but not at the expense of our crew, who have no rest.’
