Tomorrow at 1 p.m., the International Catholic Action proposes to the faithful of the different denominations and religions to gather for prayer and to dedicate “One Minute for Peace”.

Greeting the Italianspeaking pilgrims at the end of the general audience, the Pope reiterated his invitation to the faithful of all religious denominations to devote a minute of prayer for peace, each according to their tradition especially for Ukraine when the hands mark 13 hours, time in every country:

Let us accept this invitation and pray for the end of wars in the world and especially for dear and martyred Ukraine.

The invitation is therefore to pray for peace or to devote a thought to it. The initiative, promoted by the International Forum of Catholic Action (FIAC), was born on the occasion of the “Invocation for Peace” meeting requested by Pope Francis, where on June 8, 2014 in the Vatican Gardens, Israeli President Shimon Peres, President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmud Abbas and the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew I.

Let us hasten to overcome conflict and division and open our hearts to those most in need. Let us hasten to walk paths of peace and brotherhood.

On its website, the International Catholic Action Forum highlights this passage from this year’s Easter message Urbi et Orbi (04/09/2023). On this June 8, 2023, prayers will be said in particular for Ukraine, for the Holy Land, but also for Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Eritrea, Myanmar and the whole world.
