The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru announces that it is providing the necessary assistance to the fans who suffered an altercation with supporters of Club Independiente Santa Fe in Bogotá, Colombia. A creme bar bus was attacked by fans of the Colombia team as they drove to Nemesio Camacho Stadium, better known as “El Campín”, where at least three Universitario de Deportes fans were injured.
The events took place in the preview of the game between Universitario and Independiente Santa Fe on matchday 5 of the group stage South American Cup. “It is reported that our consulate in Bogotá provided appropriate assistance to the three injured compatriots and checked that their health is stable,” the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on its official Twitter account.

According to various witnesses, a bus full of Universitario fans was on its way to the stadium when it was ambushed by Santa Fe baristas. The three injured compatriots were taken to San José Infantil Hospital. “The Peruvian consulate continues to monitor the situation to take care of the fans in Colombia,” reports the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
