“I expect the minister to present a bill that reflects the severity of the crisis that her government has been trying to minimize at all costs for the last five years,” the MNA for Laurier-Dorion said on Friday. Andrés Fontecilla, in a press release.

Laurier-Dorion’s MNA says he has introduced no fewer than seven bills to better protect tenants from the housing crisis, set up a rent register and regulate rent rates.

“It has been months since the minister assured us that she wants to act and asked for our patience, but tenants in Quebec have been waiting for five years, they are patient enough as it is,” lamented the supporting MP.

To put an end to abusive evictions, Québec Solidaire proposes banning renovations when housing vacancies are less than 3%, better regulating rent increases, and allowing pets in all housing in Quebec.
