I was expecting an exciting Stanley Cup final. In fact, it’s exactly the opposite! While the Vegas Golden Knights are impressive, the Florida Panthers are very disappointing.
I predicted a win for Florida. I think I was a little obsessed with the performances put on by Sergei Bobrovsky and Matthew Tkachuk. The first two games were Vegas history, and only Vegas history.
It’s total domination. Offensive, defensive, in the net… The Golden Knights are ready to win. They seem to want to give their followers a first cut.
And talk little about it, but Bruce Cassidy is the former Boston Bruins coach who fired him last year. Let’s say he couldn’t have been too sad when the Bruins were eliminated in the first round. He is in the Stanley Cup final and is now leading 2-0!
Acorn and Marchessault on top
The Panthers are not disciplined. You’re frustrated and I don’t know why. At this point in the season, however, they should have no cause for frustration! But they are more than ever. And especially Tkachuk, whom I kept praising.
We see him take on Golden Knights goalie Adin Hill for nothing. He kicks with a stick, punches in the face…
Before the finals started, Tkachuk and Bobrovsky seemed like the two most logical contenders for the Conn-Smythe Trophy. Now Jack Eichel and Jonathan Marchessault are in the lead in my eyes.
Eichel could end the playoffs at the top of the points standings and Marchessault be the top scorer.
Heading for a sweep?
Meanwhile, Vegas isn’t responding to Florida’s gestures of frustration. It’s all about discipline. And above all the team. Kudos to them!
I hope for us that from the third and fourth games the series will be what we hoped it would be. Panthers head coach Paul Maurice will keep things in order here.
That he’s going to tell his people to keep their cool and not try to hurt anyone…
Because if the Golden Knights win the third game, I have the impression that this final, which I had hoped would be very exciting, will end in victory.

A perfect match for the Remparts
What a match for the Remparts! I was so impressed with how they won the Memorial Cup finals. You were so well prepared.
I looked at it and thought: This fits together perfectly!
Without taking anything away from Seattle, the Remparts completely dominated in every way. It was beautiful to behold. Despite the dominance, it was pleasant to look at. But hey, I definitely had a favorite team…
Where are the Quebecers?
The QMJHL has now won four consecutive Memorial Cups. Still, the league lags behind the other two junior circuits in the National League draft.
Since Quebec head scouts are very rare in the NHL, teams recruit friends. Even in Montreal we don’t fish in Quebec! I will never understand.
I’d go even further: Quebec coaches win Memorial Cups, but none are hired in the NHL, despite several vacancies in recent weeks.
Is someone working against Roy?
This leads me to talk about Patrick Roy again. It is still unclear whether a team would like to sign him.
It annoys me a lot… I thought that after the Memorial Cup we would intensify the process. Especially with the New York Rangers, but it seems he’s not her man.
Let’s wait a little longer, but I’m starting to get the feeling that someone is working against him.
