Liquor store wannabe thief stopped by locked door: video – Fox News

A suspected bourbon thief was visibly devastated when his robbery of a take-out liquor store was thwarted by locked automatic doors, surveillance footage showed.

An unidentified man was caught on camera Tuesday trying to steal a 10-pack of Wild Turkey 101 from The Bottle-O Beechboro liquor store near Perth, Australia.

Kellie Gordon, who was working as a cashier on the day of the attempted robbery, told 10 News First Perth how the botched Bourbon robbery unfolded.

With slumped shoulders, the man goes to the counter, pushes the case of bourbon whiskey to the cash register and goes back to the door. Gordon apparently reaches for the alcohol and reaches into a pocket to pull out a handheld device that unlocks the door as the man leaves the store empty-handed, footage shows.

The cashier said the alleged bourbon thief did not appear “aggressive” or “concerned for her safety.” Gordon then explained that for him it was “more of a defeat than anything.”

According to 10 News First Perth, the store’s auto-locking door not only stopped other criminals from robbing the store, but also saved the store thousands of dollars.

“We just want everyone to know that we’re not going to condone that,” Gordon said.

However, some users noted that the cashier locking herself with the man could have been a dangerous scenario for them if he had been violent.
