No doubt, the Matvei Michkov file will continue to be discussed leading up to the National Hockey League draft, which will be held June 28 in Nashville.
Predators scout Jean-Philippe Glaude admits his team did a good job with the young Russian, even if they only speak in 15th place.
“We have a recruiter in Russia who came to our meetings and did his job,” he first said during an interview with JiC on Wednesday.
“Everyone tried to talk to players and coaches to get as much information as possible. [à son sujet]. He’s an interesting guy and I’ll tell you honestly that we can’t even say for ourselves on the spot how things will go from here. where will he go out Will there be a surprise? Will it slip?
“One thing’s for sure, he’s an ultra-talented guy. If I go back to the U18 championship, there was him and Connor Bedard. He had scored 12 goals in seven games while being underage and over, talent in its purest form [comme ça]it’s hard to get over it.”
So, could new GM Barrydios let himself be tempted into a stunt by trading his two first-round picks (15th and 24th) to step up and get him if he slips?
“I am confident that we will be targeting players in the week of June 25 and thatdiots will be aware of that [pour avancer dans l’ordre du repêchage]said Glaude.
“A few years ago, Roman Josi was chosen that way. We valued him very much, he was still available in the second round and David Poile had agreed to forgo the election to pick him. It’s sure to make you want to put on a show with the draft in Nashville.
