The original version of The Partridge Family first premiered on ABC in September 1970.

The series ran for a total of four seasons and its series finale aired in 1974, although two special episodes were produced in 1977 and 1994 that revolved around the lives of the cast members.

The Partridge Family centers on a widowed mother and her five children who acquire an old school bus and perform as a musical group.

The program featured artists such as Shirley Jones, Danny Bonaduce and David Cassidy throughout the run.

The cast of the show also released numerous albums as The Partridge Family and collectively received a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist in 1971.

The group’s profile as musicians was also boosted after the release of their 1970 track “I Think I Love You,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for several weeks.

The Partridge Family is also notable for being one of the few fictional music groups whose original song has made it to the top of the charts.

An animated series titled Partridge Family 2200 AD, set in a futuristic and Jetsons-esque setting, ran for a single season in 1974.
