Congratulations to Jacopo Profili for winning the Young Investigator Award (YIA) presented at the 25th International Symposium on Plasma Chemistry (ISPC) in Kyoto, Japan!

The postdoc, who is part of Professor Gaétan Laroche’s team from the Department of Mining, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, received this award for his exceptional career as a young researcher in the field of atmospheric pressure plasmas.

This researcher is mainly interested in nanomaterials, the environment and the creation of plasma systems. Its main objective is the development of new processes and advanced materials for energy technologies (flexible electronics, batteries, photovoltaics, smart packaging, etc.) that have minimal environmental impact, be it for laboratory or industrial purposes.

Jacopo is co-inventor of an anti-fog process for medical endoscopy and founder of KALEGO Solutions, a company specializing in the development of highly innovative surfaces. He also founded the Collective of Scientific and Innovative Entrepreneurs of Quebec (CESIQc), whose goal is the development, commercialization and adoption of innovations.
