The Saint-Hyacinthe Gaulois forward will continue his career with the Moncton Wildcats. It was owner Robert Irving who announced the Wildcats’ choice. Caleb is the brother of Elliot, who made his NHL debut with the Philadelphia Flyers last February.

Desnoyers picked up 53 points in 42 games and added 23 in 15 playoff games.

His teammate Émile Guité was voted 2nd overall by the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. It is the first time in history that two teammates have finished in the top two in the same year.

With a collection of 13 points, Guité was voted MVP of the national U18AAA championship in Saint-Hyacinthe.

The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada chose Lac St-Louis Lions forward Mateo Nobert for third place. The Saguenéens went for four picks in the top 8, then chose forward Nathan Lecompte from the Châteauguay Grenadiers and defenseman Alex Huang from the Sainte-Eustache Vikings with picks 4 and 5.

Big transaction

Sixth-placed Drummondville Voltigeurs have traded with the Sherbrooke Phoenix to get their hands on forward Ethan Gauthier. He will follow his father Denis Gauthier to Drummondville.

The Phoenix receive first-round picks in 2023, 2024, and 2025; two selections for the 2nd round 2024; and a 3rd round pick of 2023.

Along with Gauthier, the Voltigeurs get a 4th-round pick this year.
