Self-driving cruise car pulls up on road, preventing cops from getting to mass shooting site

First responders trying to get to the scene of a mass shooting in San Francisco were mugged after a self-driving Cruise car was stopped in the street, a witness said.

Nine people were injured in a shooting in the city’s Mission District on Friday night. Police officials describe the attack as “targeted,” marking the latest sad incident in the crime-ridden city.

San Francisco police responded to a gunshot call in the area at 24th Street and Treat Street around 9 p.m. Friday.

A video posted on Twitter by a witness shows access being blocked because of the robotic car. In the clip, a San Francisco police officer yells for the car to move because it was blocking ambulances.

“Suddenly, cops, fire engines, and ambulances were moving down Folsom toward 24. The Cruise car just pulled up on Folsom. “An officer got out of his car, slammed the window and yelled for the car to pull off the road and get out of the way of the car,” witness Paul Valdez told the San Francisco Standard.

A Cruise spokesman told that the car stopped “as it approached an active emergency scene, then reversed and stopped.”

“During this time, all vehicles, including emergency vehicles, were able to drive around our car,” the statement continued.

Crime in the City of the Bay is up 6.9 percent this year compared to the same period last year. However, homicide and robbery increased by five and 16.1 percent, respectively.

Although crime has declined overall, city residents claim that liberal policies have resulted in San Francisco becoming a “fourth world country within a first world country.”

A witness described one person’s injuries as “very serious”.

“I could see a victim. I heard the shooting loud and clear, but couldn’t witness it visually. The corner I live in is now taped up with yellow tape, cops are taking notes looking for spent shots I think. [A victim] was cared for by three people until emergency help arrived. “It looked very serious,” the unnamed witness told the San Francisco Standard.

The Standard’s report goes on to say that at the time of the shooting, a local clothing store, Dying Breed, was throwing a block party in the area.

The soft crime policies at the West Coast hub have left the city with rampant lawlessness and the open air drug markets, prompting disgruntled resident Darren Mark Stallcup, 26, to admit he “can’t go on living like this”.

“We are witnessing the collapse of the Paris of the West and possibly the decline of Western civilization, with San Francisco being the first domino,” he told Fox News.

“I personally witnessed a fentanyl genocide. Every night I fall asleep to the sound of sirens and wake up to people screaming for their lives.”

His comments come at a time when more than 70,000 residents have fled San Francisco since the pandemic began to escape the crumbling city’s drug and crime crisis.

Stallcup, who recently started a fundraiser to help him move out of San Francisco after fentanyl made the city “uninhabitable,” frequently documents the ugly scenes on the streets to draw attention to the problems.

His videos often depict streets lined with tents, drug use in the open air, and homeless addicts terrorizing people without consequence.

“When I go out and count the bodies every morning as I document the fentanyl genocide in our community,” Stallcup said.

“My goal is to show the world what’s really happening on the streets of San Francisco.”

Earlier this year, embattled California Governor Gavin Newsom pledged to crack down on the metro area’s rampant drug and crime tide.

But Stallcup said elected officials are to blame for the ongoing crisis as lenient policies and underfunded police forces are unable to bring the city back to life.

“It seems like local leaders and local news outlets are working together to just sweep this under the rug and pretend everything is fine, when in reality thousands of people are dying from fentanyl,” said the 26-year-old Bay Area said the native

“We have a beautiful city.” Generations of people, good men and women, have built this city. Generations of blood, sweat and tears.

“And I hate when everything falls apart in a decade just because people can’t stop voting for this mess.”
