Barcelona are dropping a lawsuit against LaLiga over the deal

Barcelona filed a letter with the First Instance Court 15 in Madrid last Friday announcing its withdrawal from the lawsuit against LaLiga and CVC, in which it was involved along with Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao. The three clubs, with the Spanish Football Federation as joint plaintiff, had denounced the economic alliance between the employers’ association and the investment fund LaLiga Impulse, for which the other professional clubs received around 1,900 million euros in exchange for 8%. of its profit from the commercialization of its television rights. For their part, in their dismissal letter, the Blaugrana entity requested that the case be dismissed without affecting the continuity of Real Madrid, Athletic and the federation entity.

Barcelona’s resignation came on the same Friday that a court of first instance, in this case 46, also issued a judgment in which it found that there was a formal defect in the terms of the solicitation and in the acceptance of the agreement the LaLiga- Assembly on August 12, 2021. The employers assured in a statement that this phrase “does not call into question the legal compliance of the LaLiga Impulse project” and that “every possible deficiency, particularly in this lawsuit, has already been fully remedied” the Meeting held on December 10, 2021 approving the Definitive Agreement with CVC.”

LaLiga also confirm that the agreement with CVC will not be affected by the assumption that the next payment of €500m that the fund will have to provide will be made in the coming days.
