AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D in the works with 96MB L3

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D in the works with 96MB L3 cache – notebookcheck.biz

While the Ryzen 7 7800X3D strikes the perfect balance between price and gaming performance, the lingering issues with AM5 motherboards could discourage many gamers from getting one. The only alternative currently is the equally impressive Ryzen 7 5800X3D. That could change soon as AMD is preparing a Ryzen 5 5600X3D.

The information comes from the Twitter user chi11eddoga renowned leaker with a good track record. It’s a 6-core, 12-thread processor with a base/boost clock of 4.4/3.3 GHz and 96 MB L3 cache (like the 5800X3D). No other specifications are known at this time, but it is likely to be a Ryzen 5 5600X processor with an additional V-cache tile.

It is currently unclear when the Ryzen 5 5600X3D will be launched. It makes little sense for AMD to release it now given how often Ryzen 7 5800X3Ds are released. Ryzen 7 5800X3D is discounted. However, an AM4-compatible X3D processor will be an attractive option for those still using the platform, especially at a price point around $250.

The existence of the Ryzen 5 5600X3D makes us wonder if there will ever be a Ryzen 5 7600X3D. The extremely late launch tacitly implies that AMD won’t be sticking with the Zen 4 X3D part until much later in the release cycle. Or maybe AMD has a stash of older chips that didn’t make it as a Ryzen 7 SKU. Either way, this is a win for gamers lacking in hardware, especially when it comes to the processor.
