Twitter refuses to pay its Google Cloud bills, Platformer reports

June 10 (Portal) – Twitter has refused to pay its Google Cloud (togetL.O) bills as its contract is due to be renewed this month, which could result in the social media network’s trust and security teams company will be paralyzed, reported Platformer on Saturday.

Prior to Elon Musk’s acquisition of the social media platform last year, Twitter signed a multi-year deal with Google related to things like fighting spam and protecting accounts, the report said.

The Platformer report did not specify how the conflict between the companies could affect Twitter’s trust and security teams. According to the information, since at least March, Twitter has been trying to renegotiate its contract with Google.

According to Platformer, Twitter hosts some services on its server and hosts others on Amazon (AMZN.O) and Google cloud platforms.

According to the information, in March Amazon warned Twitter against withholding advertising payments due to the company’s outstanding invoices to Amazon Web Services for cloud computing services.

Since acquiring Musk, Twitter has slashed costs and laid off thousands of employees. A source told Portal in November that Musk had instructed the company to cut infrastructure costs, such as spending on cloud services, by $1 billion.

Twitter didn’t immediately respond to an email request, while Google didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
