A study by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) published on Monday (12) shows that sexism whether by men or among women themselves is “potentially harmful” and even legitimizes physical and psychological acts of violence.

The UNDP survey was conducted in 80 countries and covers more than 85% of the world’s population. According to the survey, almost 90% of the world’s population, regardless of gender, has prejudices against women.

    Education has the lowest bias rate: only 9.59% of respondents believe that university is more important for men than for women.

    In the political dimension 39.91% of people showed gender bias and they believe that women are not as good politicians as men when they have that role. In addition, they also believe that women have fewer rights than men.

    UNDP uses the World Values ​​Survey (WVS) database to calculate social gender norm indices designed to capture beliefs about gender equality in terms of ability and rights.
