On the occasion of the release of his memoir Pageboy, Elliot Page has revealed many confidants, most notably revealing that he was sexually assaulted while filming the thriller Hard Candy in 2005.
On December 1, 2020, Elliot Page revealed his switch and new first name on his official Instagram account. The news marks the beginning of an important chapter in the life and career of the actor, who caused a stir in Hollywood by revealing his homosexuality in 2014.
This journey, marked by numerous professional achievements and positions, is described in his autobiography entitled “Pageboy”, published on June 7th in France by Kero Editions. On his pages, the Canadian star testifies, among other things, to the attacks he has faced throughout his career.
One of these took place on the set of David Slade’s thriller Hard Candy. In this disturbing 2005 film, Elliot Page plays a young teenager who decides to target a man she met on the internet whom she calls a pedophile.
The actor, who was 17 at the time of filming, said he was the subject of unsolicited sexual advances from two of the film’s production staff. He later explains that he was accompanied in the car by one of the team’s men.
He writes: “With his soft voice and his hands on my shoulders, he led me into the bedroom. I was paralyzed. Unsure what to do as he stood in front of me and took off his glasses. He put me on the bed. He started pulling my pants off before saying, “I want to eat you.” I didn’t move anymore. When he was done, he tried to stay in bed with me. I slowly came to my senses and told him it was impossible, he had to get out.
In the columns of the British newspaper The Guardian, Elliot Page adds: “Apart from what this incident says about power and toxicity, it is above all about a young person living in a space surrounded by adults and in situations where People… I don’t even have the floor. I was going to say “Have fun,” but that’s awful. I’m at a loss for words because it’s so hard to get used to the idea of someone wanting to look into this…”
In his interview, the actor struggles to find the right terms. He’ll be back on screen in 2024 in the fourth season of Umbrella Academy on the Netflix platform, but other than that series, Elliot Page has no plans to sign off on his eventual return to cinema just yet.
