Jay completes a spectacular comeback in the fifth inning

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Cavan Biggio picked the best moment to hit his fourth home run of the season. Biggio played his heroes in the eighth inning, scoring a three-run slap to complete a spectacular Jays comeback that ended in a 7-6 triumph over the Minnesota Twins Sunday afternoon at Rogers Center.

The game started badly for the Queen City team. The Twins scored four points in the opener.

Minnesota later hit two more runs in the fifth, including a solo home run by Donovan Solano.

Everything seemed to indicate that John Schneider’s men would suffer a sweep in the series, but Toronto’s offense woke up starting in the fifth inning.

Matt Chapman initiated this comeback when he hit a two-point bomb.

Cavan Biggio then played the game-winning long ball that saved the Jays from the sweep.

The win puts the Toronto team just a game and a half behind the New York Yankees and third in the American League East Division. They are 37-30.

Toronto meets the Baltimore Orioles at home in their next three-game streak, which begins Tuesday.

A good performance for Julien

Quebec’s Édouard Julien performed well again at the Rogers Centre.

The leadoff batter in the offensive role set the tone for the game by hitting a double down the fairway. The 24-year-old scored the goal shortly after his shot from a safe distance.

With a walk he achieved success again in this game.

The former Auburn University Tigers also stood out in Saturday’s game. He scored twice and secured his first major league steal.

An important plateau for Andrew McCutchen

At PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen scored his 2,000th career goal in his team’s 2-1 win over the New York Mets.

The veteran became the 291st player in MLB history to accomplish the feat. After Miguel Cabrera, Nelson Cruz, Joey Votto and Elvis Andrus, he is the fifth still active player to reach the 2000 hits plateau.
