Hanoi, June 13 (Prensa Latina) The number of people detained in Vietnam has already risen to 39 after armed attacks on official institutions in two municipalities of Dak Lak province, authorized sources confirmed today.
In the last few hours, another ten people have been arrested in connection with these events, which took place in the early hours of last Sunday, and the search for the remaining attackers is ongoing, said Public Security Ministry spokesman To To Xo.
Dak Lak police, meanwhile, called on the criminals to turn themselves in so they could enjoy leniency, the VNA news agency said.
An Vo himself announced the day before that the forces had not only arrested several people involved in the events in Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur communes of Cu Kuin district, but also confiscated military weapons, including CKC rifles.
As a result of armed attacks on official institutions, including some police units, four police officers, community officials and local residents were killed and others were injured.
The day before, Vice Premier Tran Luu Quang visited the families of those killed and injured in the attacks, and Deputy Chief of Staff of the People’s Army of Vietnam Colonel-General Huynh Chien Thang, at the head of a delegation from the National Defense Ministry, toured the sites of the events.
Meanwhile, Vietnam’s Minister of Public Security, General To Lam, granted early promotions to the four casualties and police officers and joined the local government in offering assistance to the families of those killed and injured in the incidents.
