Paul McCartney says he’s using artificial intelligence to create what he calls “the ultimate Beatles song.”

According to McCartney, the technology was used to extract John Lennon’s voice from an old recording.

“We just finished it and it will be released this year,” he said.

The musician announced the information during BBC Radio 4’s ‘Today’ programme.

McCartney said he didn’t know the name of the song he took Lennon’s voice from, but that it was likely a 1978 composition entitled “Now And Then.”

Paul McCartney received the recording from Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono. The cassette entitled “For Paul” contained several songs by Beatle, who died in 1980. Much of the cassette was recorded in New York.
