Sarah Beeny has announced that she is getting rid of the wigs she wore during her cancer treatment and has decided to give them to people who need them most.

The Property Ladder presenter and entrepreneur revealed she was tired of seeing her wigs on a shelf at home and decided to give back to the community by auctioning off the hairpieces.

Sarah, 51, who was given the all-clear for breast cancer, added that she was often given great support and occasionally bullied.

Sarah kicked off with a fiery auburn wig, telling her fans Monday on Instagram, “Day 1 – MY BIG WIG AUCTION Today’s wig is this long auburn beauty.”

“I’m at a point after my cancer treatment where I need to move on and to do that I wanted to give up my wigs and get them off my bedroom windowsill!”

She added: “They’ve been a great support, great fun, sometimes a little bit annoying, sometimes a little bit ridiculous, but they’ve been really important to me since I first lost my hair.”

“Now I want these wigs to reach the people who are where I was six months ago and need a boost.”

Sarah, who had a double mastectomy and has been diagnosed with breast cancer since being diagnosed in August 2022, then went on to say her fundraiser would be held every day for nine days and there would be a different wig up for grabs.

She said, “I will be posting the final wig on June 21st and you have until midnight that day to apply for your wig of choice.”

“There are many incredible charities doing great things and many of them have been an immense support and source of important information for my documentary.”

“This time I’ve decided to raise funds for @breastcancernow whose primary goals are to raise awareness, provide support and fund life-saving research, including research into secondary breast cancer (which ultimately took my mother’s life) .”

Sarah has four sons, Billy, 18, Charlie, 16, Rafferty, 14, and Laurie, 12, with her husband, Graham Swift, of 19 years.

She cites it as her motivation for going public with her diagnosis.

The presenter announced her diagnosis in an August interview with The Telegraph, revealing that she always suspected she would be diagnosed with the condition after her mother Ann died of cancer aged 39, when Sarah was just 10 was years old.

Speaking recently on This Morning, she said: “It’s probably one of the reasons I integrate so many things into my life.”

“I kind of expected it. It is frightening. You say: “You have breast cancer” and you hear: “What kind of coffin do you want?”. “If you check it and recognize it early, it’s good.”

Sarah Beeny Against Cancer will air on Channel 4 later this month.
