Rajakovic was an assistant head coach with the Memphis Grizzlies starting in the 2020–2021 season. The Serb held the same position with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Phoenix Suns (2019-2020) for five seasons (2014-2019).

“For me, you build a team culture with yourself and with your team every day,” said Rajakovic at a press conference.

“It’s good for everyone in the organization. The unity and trust we will develop mean everything to me.

The 44-year-old also said he’s happy to work for the only team outside the US.

“It is a privilege to be part of this organization. There is a lot of international influence and diversity, be it in the city or in the organization.

The Raptors showed Nurse the way out on April 21, ending a ten-year collaboration. He was the club’s pilot for five years and won the organization’s first NBA championship in 2019. The 55-year-old was recently signed by the Philadelphia 76ers.
