China’s top anti-corruption official Li Xi met with the President of the Republic of Honduras Iris Xiomara Castro Sarmiento in Beijing on Tuesday.
Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, said China-Honduras cooperation has started to yield fruitful results since ties were established. Diplomats met more than two months ago, which fully proves that the decision is right and benefits both countries and peoples.
China stands ready to strengthen exchanges of governance experience with Honduras, including in anti-corruption and other fields, as well as strengthen international anti-corruption cooperation and push forward new achievements in bilateral ties, Li said.
For his part, Castro pointed out that it is a matter of historic importance for Honduras to recognize the principle of “One China” and to establish diplomatic relations with the Asian country on that basis.
Castro praised China’s anti-corruption philosophy and achievements, saying his country is willing to learn from China’s relevant experience.
