Anita Baker Quits Babyface From ‘The Songstress Tour’ After ‘Silently Enduring Cyberbullying’

Anita Baker will continue the Songstress Tour alone after announcing she will no longer have Babyface as a guest on her upcoming shows. The announcement came after Baker claimed to have been bullied online by Babyface fans.

“Following silent, ongoing cyberbullying/verbal abuse and threats of violence from the fanbase, our special guest/support act,” she said tweeted. “In the interests of personal safety. I will continue the Songstress Tour alone. Appropriate refunds will be made. Blessing.”

Babyface released a statement of his own, saying he was “sad at the news.”

“It’s unfortunate and disheartening to see how things have turned out across social media,” he said opinion read. “While I’ve been looking forward to the rest of the dates, I have nothing but love and respect for Anita and wish her all the best for the rest of her tour.”

It all started on May 10th when Babyface announced on Twitter that he would not be performing with Baker, although his appearance had been confirmed.

“I’m really sorry for my fans who have been waiting for us to get on stage at @PruCenter tonight,” he said tweeted. “I was asked not to perform to give Ms. Baker the space and time to fully perform her show. My band and I are very sad that we couldn’t perform for all of you tonight.”

Babyface’s fans weren’t thrilled with the last-minute change and apparently began attacking Baker, prompting them to do so tweet Here’s what: “Kenny’s Crazies are online bullies. @Babyface Please stop your fans. I was nothing but kind and supportive to you as a special guest/supporter on my tour.”

Baker later posted another tweet to clarify that Babyface was just an opening act.

“Darling. You are not privy to the contracts. Yes, Babyface is a special guest/support act on my tour. This false narrative from a co-headliner is giving his fans unrealistic expectations and aggression towards me. He should be telling you the truth,” it says in the message tweet.
