Anker, the Chinese maker of tech accessories, has launched GaNPrime, a new line of innovative products featuring GaN (gallium nitride) technology. This series includes two new chargers with 67W and 100W power, which have a folding mechanism for the mains plug. Anker also announced a fixed charging station that can deliver up to 250W, as well as external batteries with a capacity of 27,000mAh and a charge monitoring screen.

For those interested in technology, Anker is a household name. Known for its high quality tech accessories, this Chinese manufacturer is appreciated for its wide range of products, ranging from chargers to video projectors (Nebula), headphones (Soundcore), speakers, cameras (Eufy), external batteries and solar panels (Solix) suffices. Finally, Anker waves to Apple fans by offering MagSafe-compatible accessories that come in handy for iPhone users.
Anker has a history of building a strong reputation for quality charging accessories for mobile devices. These are characterized by reliability, robustness and adaptability. And the brand didn’t stop there.
With the introduction of gallium nitride, better known as GaN, winds of change are blowing through Anker’s product lines. This technology enables the development of more compact and efficient chargers, like Apple used a few years ago. Anker has decided to re-adopt this technology for its GaNPrime series as well.
Anker’s Prime range
With the GaNPrime chargers, Anker has taken another step in the further development of its products. Two new chargers are appearing, offering an impressive charging power of 67 and 100 watts respectively. But that’s not all. For the first time, Anker has integrated a folding mechanism for the power plug in accordance with EU standards, an ingenious trick to save space during transport.
Anker’s Prime range isn’t just limited to chargers. The range also includes a stationary charging station with a power output of up to 250W. This addition demonstrates Anker’s commitment to support a wide range of devices, including those that require high power charging.
External batteries have not been neglected in the meantime. They offer a massive 27,000mAh capacity, a display for easy charge tracking, and a 100W wireless charging station. With these specifications, various devices can be charged, from smartphones to tablets to laptop PCs.
The brand hasn’t announced pricing or availability for these products yet, but we can expect them to arrive on Amazon soon.
What is GaN?
Gallium nitride, also called GaNis a semiconductor that, like silicon, can be used to make chips for electronics. GaN is a transparent crystalline material that has been used in the manufacture of LEDs for 30 years. In phone and laptop chargers, the use of high-voltage GaN allows more power to be transferred with much higher efficiency than silicon, making them better suited for this type of application.
Since more power can be transferred via GaN components and they can also be made more compact than their silicon counterparts, this means that the number of components required for a charger (and therefore its overall size) can be reduced.
