During his stay in this country, the Persian president will hold talks with the Cuban authorities and carry out other interesting activities, the Caribbean island’s foreign ministry said.
This is the Iranian leader’s first visit to Cuba since assuming his country’s presidency in 2021.
Cuba and Iran have maintained a relationship of more than 40 years since their restoration on August 8, 1979.
The ties between the parties are deeply marked by the historic leaders of both nations, Fidel Castro and Ayatollah Khomeini respectively.
In more than four decades, several bilateral agreements and exchanges have been signed and consolidated in areas such as transfer of biotechnological products, nanotechnology, pharmaceutical industry, food safety and other areas of common interest.
On this trip, which ends in Cuba, Raisi also visited Venezuela and Nicaragua, countries where he signed twenty agreements each.
The Iranian authorities assured that this trip strengthens the Persian nation’s strategic ties with key allies in Latin America, who are also bound by common interests in fighting the United States and its coercive actions against these nations.
