Jarome Iginla returns home

Jarome Iginla is back with the Calgary Flames after the former team captain was named special adviser to general manager Craig Conroy on Thursday.

He was also very happy that he was able to convince his former teammate to join him on his new adventure.

“Jarome and I always had the goal of working together one day. We even talked about it while playing. That day has finally come and I’m excited to welcome it back to Calgary. Jarome is creative and intelligent. He has a great passion for hockey and wants to win the Stanley Cup,” Conroy said in a statement.

Iginla, now 45, is also happy to be back with the Flames.

“I am grateful to the owners who give me this opportunity. I look forward to it and want to support Conroy in a more committed role as GM.”

The man, who also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings, has 1,300 points in 1,554 career games on the Bettman Circuit.
