A shark surprised bathers on a beach in Alicante, Spain, on Thursday morning. An elderly woman who was in the water suffered a panic attack when she noticed the animal’s presence.
What happened
The incident happened on Aguamarina beachhappened when the approximately two meter long animal of the blue shark species (Tintonera) was noticed by bathers as it approached the strip of sand.
At that point, the lifeguards sounded the alarm to get people out of the water.
A released video captured the moment. in which the animal approached bathers and caused an uproar in the peaceful resort bathed by the Mediterranean Sea.
Activated the police searched for the shark, which was not found by the authorities.
Sharks have been sighted in the area
This is not the first time a shark has been sighted in the region’s waters.
In 2016, an animal of the same species attacked a tourist in the town of Elche. about 30 km from the beach of Alicante. With a deep cut on his hands, the 40yearold was taken to a nearby hospital for stitches.
A blue shark was also sighted on the beach of Calas de Mallorcaone of the most controversial on the east coast of the island of Mallorca, in 2018, forcing tourists to leave the sea at that time.
Most recently, in April of this year, Another shark measuring nearly two meters in size, possibly of the Tintorera species, has been sighted on the beach at Cala Llombards, also in Mallorca.
