(ANSA) — NEW YORK, JUNE 15 — A federal grand jury has indicted Pentagon leak whistleblower Jack Teixeira. The American media reported on this and emphasized that Teixeira was accused of voluntarily withholding and disseminating confidential information related to national defense.
The Pentagon Leaks whistleblower was arrested on April 13 and is in federal custody after prosecutors presented evidence he had access to an arsenal and risked sharing sensitive information abroad.
“The unauthorized removal, storage and transmission of confidential information compromises the security of our country,” said Massachusetts Attorney Joshua S. Levy. “Those who are granted access to classified information have an obligation to protect it to protect the security of the United States, our military, our citizens, and our allies,” Levy notes, noting the obligation to “ensure that all those in possession of sensitive national security information shall abide by “the law” (ANSA).
