John Mayer’s Manhattan home has been for rent for eight years.

As The Post has learned, John Mayer’s longtime Manhattan apartment is available for rent for $17,500 a month.

Mayer, 45, lived in this Soho apartment at 225 Lafayette St. from 2006 to 2013.

Beyond this former home, the Grammy-winning musician is also known for being friends with Bravo boss Andy Cohen for 25 years – but it wasn’t until Mayer was living in this apartment that the two cemented their relationship, sources reveal.

“That’s when John and Andy started spending a lot of time together,” a source said. “They both lived very close together, and still do, and their friendship blossomed from there.”

Cohen had then moved to 2 Horatio St., where he still resides, in addition to a penthouse unit in the West Village he bought last year for $18.3 million.

Mayer, meanwhile, bought this two-bedroom, three-bathroom corner condo for $2.17 million and later sold it for $3.19 million, records show.

Referring to Mayer, Cohen admitted that he was “completely star-struck for the first five years.”

“I’m still thrilled about our friendship, but I’ve gotten over the excitement of it being so new,” Cohen told Howard Stern on Wednesday. “Sometime, 20 years into a friendship, you digest that it’s there.”

He also caused a lot of controversy after the episode of Stern’s SiriusXM show when he said he was “in love” with the “Gravity” singer.

“I’m in love with John Mayer. We are in love with each other.”

Mayer has also opened up about his friendship with Cohen.

“I’ve walked the streets of the city with him and FaceTimed him as he went about his day and every time he was recognized he said ‘hello’ to a friend. “What’s up, Andy?” “Hey Andy!” “I loved what you said about de Blasio!” He’s my friend too, my dear friend,” Mayer said. “And there are times in life when you just need a friend you can count on.”

“He’s a Madonna Stan and a Deadhead. He’s an A-Pro partying like a B-Pro with the free spirit of a C-Pro,” Mayer continued. “I love Andy more than I can tell you. He is a brilliant human being, a hilarious sidekick, a loving son and brother – and more recently has become a proud, dedicated and deeply devoted father.”

At the time Mayer resided in the 12th-floor apartment, he was only a 12-minute drive from where Cohen lived.

Mayer’s former apartment covers more than 2,000 square meters and has recently been completely renovated.

The fully furnished unit features 16 oversized windows for optimal sun exposure, a home office for remote work, and panoramic city views.

Additional features include an entry foyer, dining area, Brazilian walnut floors, high beamed ceilings and an open chef’s kitchen with top of the range appliances, the listing states.

At the far end of the house is an expansive master suite, considered a “tranquil retreat.” It features a living room, a king bedroom and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and double vanity.

The second bedroom also has its own bathroom and “can easily be used as an office or reading area,” according to the listing.

To complete the home there are laundry facilities, a powder room and storage space in the unit.

The home was last sold for $3.92 million in 2018.

Compass’s Nick Gavin holds the list.

Shortly after Mayer sold the property, he moved to Montana to escape the limelight. It was around this time that he got excited after a series of interviews that discussed former girlfriends like Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston.

Cass Gilbert, the architect whose portfolio includes the Woolworth Building, designed this 12-story Soho landmark in 1923; It was converted into a condominium in 2005.

Building amenities include a full-time porter, full-time superintendent, and a recently renovated leafy shared rooftop terrace with 360-degree city views.
