Jay was born in a village in Una District and grew up without access to basic amenities like electricity and clean water. Despite so many problems, Jay kept fighting for improvement and gained a solid education.
He earned his BA from the renowned Institute of Technology at Banaras Hindu University and went on to earn a Masters in Computer Engineering. He also earned a master’s degree in industrial engineering and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati.

Jay’s determination led him to found several successful companies such as SecureIT and CipherTrust in 1997, followed by AirDefense and CoreHarbor. Before Jay started his entrepreneurial journey, he gained valuable experience in leadership positions at renowned companies such as NCR, IBM, Unisys and IQ Software.
Jay’s resilience was even more evident during the Covid19 pandemic, when his cloud security company Zscaler experienced exceptional growth. As of 2021, Jay Chaudhry has risen to number 9 in the list of the ten richest Indians with a current net worth of over $16.3 billion (as of October 2021).
