Part of LAX Terminal 1 evacuated to investigate suspicious packages

LAX has evacuated part of Terminal 1 as officers examine a suspicious package.

The authorities only found out about the suspicious package around 9:35 p.m

Airport police cleared the area in front of the TSA security checkpoint. Officials stopped traffic in front of the terminal. Due to the closure, it is no longer possible for anyone to reach the collection points.

At least eight flights were delayed due to the incident.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s bomb squad was dispatched to the area.

LAX announced plans to divert traffic in a tweet sent at 10:23 p.m

Traffic on the lower level reopened to vehicles, but not pedestrians, at around 10:50 p.m

Shortly after 11 p.m., officials announced that they had resolved the issue of an unattended bag and were ready to return airport operations to normal.
