BREAKING NEWS: Woke Los Angeles prosecutor will not press felony charges against Dave Chappelle’s attacker even though he wears it

  • LA County Prosecutor George Gascon is not pursuing felony charges against Isaiah Lee, the 23-year-old who tried to assault Dave Chappelle on Wednesday
  • Lee stormed the stage at the Netflix joke event armed with a knife
  • His motive remains unclear — he somehow smuggled his gun through security
  • Initially, the police held him for assault with a deadly weapon
  • His bail was set at $30,000 and he was being held in custody
  • It’s now likely he’ll be free to roam if Gascon opts for little or no cash bail

Woke LA prosecutor George Gascon will not press felony charges against the assailant who stormed Dave Chappelle’s Hollywood Bowl concert with a bayonet, instead reducing the charges to misdemeanor charges.

Isaiah Lee, 23, ran onto the stage at the show on Wednesday and released the knife hidden in a gun.

Chappelle, 48, avoided it and was unharmed. The attacker was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital with a broken arm.

There were immediate questions about security at the event and how the man could have smuggled in the gun.

But the Gascon office – which is known for low-or-no-cash bonds – is not taking the strictest line of punishment.

It means Lee, who is currently being held on $30,000 bail for assault with a deadly weapon, could soon be free.
