Lily-Rose Depp Disturbed by Her Nude Scenes on The Idol? His answer in all honesty: Télé-Loisirs

In the idol, you play the role of a pop star in decline who is willing to do anything to find the ups. How did you deal with this figure of excess?

I’ve always found the status of pop stars and even celebrities in general extremely interesting. These are people who are closely watched or even spied on all the time. We think we know a lot more about them than we really do. I found it really interesting to explore a character like that and think about what was going on in his head. For this I wanted to go deep and not just remain on the surface of my role as Jocelyn. I had to make sure to focus well while trying to make sense of things to leave this character in the dressing room at the end of each day.

Did the sex and nude scenes bother you?

No, the nudity didn’t bother me because there was a real need and meaning to the role. I think that the character’s occasional nudity physically reflects the nudity that we see in her emotionally. It was something that I felt was really important and necessary for the character. For example, the way she dresses is always an attempt on her part to convey a message or say something to the people she meets. A way to express yourself in one way or another in all their gestures and outfits.

The American magazine Rolling Stone mentioned toxic filming on the set of “The Idol”. How did you react to this accusation? Was this shooting really harmful to you?

It’s always kind of sad and disheartening to hear mean, untrue things about someone you really care about and who isn’t. I can assure you that this did not at all reflect my experience filming this series. I can tell you that this project is close to my heart and the people who worked on this project have become a family. I loved working with everyone from Sam (creator Sam Levinson), Abel (Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, known professionally as The Weeknd) and our entire team from costumes to makeup artists to hairstylists.

Some say your character is a species Britney Spears a new generation. Where did you get your inspiration from?

I’ve always admired these kinds of artists. I have a lot of respect for these pop stars who went through difficult psychological times due to a lifestyle that I personally didn’t live at all. It got me thinking about a lot of other influences that aren’t pop stars. In this series we’ve given special thought to Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct… this incredibly strong woman who had a huge impact.

the idol talks about success, celebrity, and fame… a phenomenon you know becomes even stronger with famous parents. How do you deal with this situation today?

It’s very easy. I make sure to only be surrounded by good people. (she smiles) I also believe that this is the key to managing fame as best as possible. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by great people and my mission is simply to do my job as well as possible.
