Before the violence began, Roseland hosted a Father’s Day event that has been a tradition in the neighborhood for decades.

An altercation broke out at the park’s barbecue area before a car pulled over and someone inside opened fire. There was no word on what led to the disagreement.

All victims were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and Roseland and Christ Hospitals.

A man who asked to remain anonymous claimed he heard about 100 shots and said: “It wasn’t a pistol.”

Local resident Michael Henry described what he heard from a relative who lives on the block where the shooting took place.

“My cousin said she heard 15 to 16 shots,” he told CBS News. “A car just pulled up and started shooting and then I think it was 20 or more shots and everyone was ducking and stuff like that.”

Police said they were looking for a gray Honda sedan in connection with the shooting.

In Woodlawn, a 48-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the head at the 6600 block of South Evans Avenue at 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
